Hi, I'm Lina,

Certified FasciaNatya Instructor, performer at Rajashree Ramesh Academy of Performing Arts and Movement Studies.

I have been moving to the rhythm of classical Indian dance in Kaunas for a little over a decade. Years of practice was enriched by modular FasciaNatya and CoreConcept courses led by movement researcher, dancer and teacher dr. Rajyashree Ramesh, which gave me the opportunity to grow and reach deeper layers of the dance.

The constant growth is one of the reasons why I fell in love with this niche movement discipline, which over the time became more than a hobby. It became my path, faith and sanctuary.

With the teacher’s dr. Rajyashree Ramesh academic research based teaching, I’m opening wider and deeper layers of this dance, experiencing a physicality that goes beyond boundaries of specific culture, race and species. The dance becomes a link between the rational present and instinctive past.

With NatyaX course I invite you to start your own dance journey, expand perspectives and experience your potential through diverse classical Indian dance theater.

I will be honored to be part of your dance journey.

“[The art form (Natya)] teaches duty to those bent on doing their duty, love to those who are eager for its fulfilment, and it chastises those who are ill-bred or unruly, promotes self-restraint in those who are disciplined, gives courage to cowards, energy to heroic persons, enlightens men of poor intellect and gives wisdom to the learned."
[...] There is no wisdom, science, craft or art that is not in Natya"

- Natya Shastra (eng. "Rules of acting and representation") - a guide of dramatic art theory dating between 500 BCE. and 500 CE, describing composition, performance structure and stage architecture, acting genres, body movements, costumes, musical instruments, etc.

What is NatyaX?

Personal Explorations in Classical Indian Dance Theater (Natya).

During a year-long intensive FasciaNatya and CoreConcepts courses, I learned about the teacher’s dr. Rajyashree Ramesh developed methodology, which combines classical Indian dance theater theory and its embodied wisdom, with current knowledge of body anatomy and the Laban/Bartenieff movement system and its embodiment theories. This symbiosis offers a more efficient, healthier movement enriched with new perspectives of deep rooted movement tradition.

Kinetic and emotive experiences in FasciaNatya and CoreConcept courses, inspired a wish to break through the stereotypes associated with the term “Indian dance” and reveal the depth and diversity the actual classical Indian dance offers. To get to know the tradition of performing art not only through choreographies and items, but also as a philosophy of movement that everyone can experience. Dance can become a daily practice that enriches physical and emotional body.

Thus the idea of NatyaX was born - a deep rooted, personal experience of dance and its unique tradition of body movement and expression. Discovering the treasures of this performing art form, experiencing your body through movement and enriching the old tradition with yourself - your personal experiences, humanity, your own X-factor, embodying and preserving the movement tradition and its wisdom.

Why should you join?

During NatyaX classes, you will fully familiarize yourself with the movement vocabulary of classical Indian dance enriched with the Laban/Bartenieff movement analysis system. You will learn to observe your movement from a variety of viewpoints, including biomechanical, geometric, and emotional.

You will also become more familiar with the main anatomical points and lines along which movement "travels" in the body. You will learn to move without relying only on the strength of external muscles, how you movement is supported through your body center, which constantly pulsates with your breath.

On top of that,
you will strengthen not only your body, but also your brain! I can assure you that in NatyaX classes you will definitely discover hitherto unknown movement patterns and a new level of concentration - you will learn to observe and feel your WHOLE body (right down to the fingertips and even the eyes).

NatyaX classes are also unique in that they can be adapted to individual needs and body capabilities. Those looking to put their physical strength to the test will find a "pure" movement that emphasizes endurance, subtle strength, and speed. And those whose bodies cannot bear heavy loads can explore theatrical movement using "body gestures" - hand gestures, facial expressions, movement of feet, hands, sides, stomach, thighs, calves, etc. - and their role in expression.

Who are NatyaX
classes for?

NatyaX classes are not limited by age, gender, race, athletic ability, or any other factor. Because of the dance theater's universality, anybody may join - those who want to get stronger, those who want to learn about the traditional Indian theatre, its theory of expression, and its link with today's science, those who want to enhance concentration and introspection...

I am sure that everyone can find their place in classical Indian dance theatre. The following qoute from the dance theatre theory guidebook prove this:
